Our Mission

To strengthen mental health systems and communities in East Africa by delivering accessible, ethical, and high-quality mental health services and training, while building local capacity for prevention, early intervention, and recovery.

Innovating Mental Health Care in Africa

EAPCI is advancing a sustainable, prevention-oriented model of mental health care that empowers communities while maintaining professional standards.

Our approach focuses on:

  • Strengthening community capacity to respond to mental health challenges
  • Training lay counsellors and frontline workers to provide early support
  • Promoting timely and appropriate referral to specialized care

By intervening early, we help reduce the unnecessary escalation of mental health challenges to costly specialist services, while safeguarding quality, ethics, and client safety.
